The Stuff in our Lives

So I promise we've been busy, which is why I haven't posted in so long. But, nothing we've been doing is all that interesting. But, here is goes

1. Steve finished his second year of medical school.
2. He worked in the Betty Ford Center in California for a week
3. Since he's been home he's studied 12-16 hours a day for his board examinations. He takes his first one tomorrow! and the second on the 16th.
4. I started my second class at the Culinary School of Fort Worth, Pastry Pro 1
5. We decided and found an apartment to move into. We are in the middle of packing and preparing to move.
6. I have been building a baby inside of me
7. I surprised my mom by driving down to San Antonio for Mother's Day
8. I'm still working full time and getting prematurely excited for my last day, Oct 1st.
9. My family came and spent Memorial Day weekend in Fort Worth
10. Nothing else really of note

So far things seem to be going well. She's about 14 oz. No names as of yet, although my family has come up with their fair share.

So when I was thinking about this post I kept singing in my head, "I love technology, but not as much as you you see, but I still love technology."

Until recently, my internet access has been limited to the library, work and begging Steve's computer from him. This seems like quite a lot until you realize if I wanted to print, use email or use the internet while Steve is studying (which is a lot), I would have to go to Steve's campus library. This is quite a pain.


Thus the reason why I love technology. Now, thanks to my lovely inlaws I have the internet in my living room, on my TV, using the Wii.

It's definitely a kind of fabulous.

The Musings of a Bar Marquee

So every day I pass several bars on my way to and from work. On one corner there happens to be three, but one stands out from the others, 7th Haven. Really there is nothing is special about this bar (not that I would really know). What I do know is that last year it was voted best bar bar in Fort Worth. They also do pet adoptions the first Sunday of every month. How do I know this: their marquee. It's quite a way to make a statement about themselves, which they do on a regular basis.

Someone working there must have a sense of humor because sometimes I'm so excited to pass it just to see what quote they have up. This week I looked up while waiting at the stop light and smiled inside. This is what it said, "Silence it golden, but duct tape is silver."

Some Stuff...In Case You Care

These are some happenings around our parts

We bought some furniture. It was way exciting and one of those "oh my gosh, I'm an adult" kind of moments.


Steve decided to buzz his head, which was partially an accident, but then he was glad he did it. Votes: do you like it?

We went down to San Antonio to play with our families. We went to The Institute of Texas Culture and an arts event. This picture is in front of the restaurant we ate at, Rosarios.

So Let's Talk About This

For the last 6 weeks this is what our street has looked like




Okay, it hasn't looked exactly like this. First, it was just dirt and then mud and then dirt again and then mud and then mud covered in snow. Then came sidebar on one side of the street followed by concrete and sidebar on the second side of the street,which is the current phase of the construction. You know, I haven't been the most patient person through the project. Looking down at your pant leg at work and realizing it's covered in mud from the construction just kind of irritates me. But, I have tried. Sometimes. I just don't understand why the city of Fort Worth couldn't have waited until after winter and hurricane season to start the new road and why with two blocks of undriveable street they chose to lay their extra sidebar in front of our house. Really, I don't think it was necessary.

Anybody else have frustrating construction stories? I'd love to hear
